NEW! Early Readers
Early Readers will meet once a week at a newly-renovated play space on Court Street in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. This drop-off class will introduce children to early reading skills along with direct instruction in primary executive functioning techniques.
Reading Level Assessment
A Running Record and/or QRI (Qualitative Reading Inventory) will be used to determine your child's reading level. A detailed discussion of the evaluation will follow the assessment.
Wondering how your child would have fared on the ELA test had she/he/they taken it? Mock NYS ELA exams can also be administered and graded upon request.
Hourly Literacy Instruction
Structured like a typical one-hour tutoring session, the focus will be on your child’s individual needs—reading comprehension, decoding, phonological awareness, writing, spelling, grammar, etc.
Weekly Literary Groups
Peer groups of three to five children will meet for two hours per week. The group will read and interact with different genres and then have follow-up, deep-dive discussions and activities along with written and oral analysis of characters, theme, plot, etc.
Monthly Book Clubs
Three to five children will meet once a month for two hours to discuss a grade-appropriate novel. Short, reflective journal entries along with a literary essay will be assigned to complement the reading.
Essay Workshop
Intense essay writing workshop for school applications that focus on topic exploration and brainstorming, feedback, and editing guidance.
